Fire destroys Hayden Lake home; no injuries reported

A fire destroyed a home early Tuesday at Hayden Lake, but first responders quickly evacuated the owners and no one was injured.

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and the Northern Lakes Fire Department responded about 12:50 a.m. to a report of a vehicle and carport on fire near Hayden Haven. They arrived to find the home also burning and now consider it “a total loss,” according to a news release.

Crews attacked the fire by land and water and prevented it from affecting next-door neighbors, the news release said.

The Sheriff’s Office said fireworks don’t appear to have caused the blaze, but it’s still under investigation.
