Liberty Lake Police Blotter: Thieves caught on camera taking sign endorsing Trump
It’s not unusual for political signs to go missing in the midst of election season, but there’s a new twist on the recent theft of a sign endorsing Donald Trump that was placed near Interestate 90 in Liberty Lake.
A resident called the Liberty Lake Police Department the morning of July 3 to report the sign missing. But he also told police that he had installed a game camera on a nearby pole that was pointed at the sign, said Police Chief Brian Asmus.
Photos recovered from the camera appear to show four teenagers removing the sign, Asmus said. The pictures have been turned over to police and the case is under investigation.
Asmus said there is a state law that identifies the theft of a political sign as a misdemeanor crime.
