STCU robbery suspect released from hospital; booked into jail

A man who was shot multiple times while allegedly trying to rob a Spokane Valley credit union was released from the hospital and booked into jail over the weekend.

The Spokane County Jail’s inmate roster shows Jeremy D. John, 44, was incarcerated Saturday afternoon on a first-degree robbery charge. He was arrested last Tuesday after authorities spent nearly a week searching for a suspect in the June 30 robbery at the STCU branch on East 32nd Avenue.

Since his arrest, John was being treated at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center for bullet wounds in his arm and hip, according to court documents. During the robbery, an STCU customer who had a concealed handgun fired at a male suspect.

John likely will appear in Spokane County Superior Court this week. Additional charges wouldn’t come as a surprise: Detectives believe he also robbed the Chase Bank on West Francis Avenue on June 14, according to court documents.
