Marysville baby sitter, 22, arrested in baby’s death

Associated Press

MARYSVILLE, Wash. – Marysville Police have arrested a 22-year-old baby sitter in connection with the February death of 4-month-old girl in her care.

Cmdr. Wendy Wade said in a news release Friday that the Marysville woman was watching a friend’s daughter in her home Feb. 26 when the baby stopped breathing. The infant died in a Seattle hospital three days later.

Wade says the Snohomish County Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide and said she died of head and neck injuries, sometimes known as shaken baby syndrome.

Investigators believe the woman is responsible for the girl’s injuries.

Wade says it took months before the woman was arrested because investigators had to wait for lab and other forensic results.
