Woman jumps from car of wanted man fleeing from deputies

Arthur J. Harp is wanted on felony warrants in Idaho and Washington (Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office)

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a wanted man who fled from deputies Friday morning while a female passenger jumped from his moving car.

Deputies got a report around 10:15 a.m. Friday that Arthur J. Harp, who is wanted on felony warrants in both Idaho and Washington, was at the State Line Liquor Store. Deputies arrived and attempted to stop Harp in the parking lot but he drove away, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

A female passenger jumped from the moving car and the pursuing deputies stopped to help her. Witnesses said Hart drove recklessly on Seltice Way and his car was found abandoned three miles away on Riverbend Avenue, the news release said.

Attempts to locate Hart with a police dog were unsuccessful. The woman is in stable condition.

Anyone with information about Hart’s location is asked to call the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office at (208) 446-1300.
