Mt. Spokane, Gonzaga Prep eliminated at State AA Legion baseball tournament

Mt. Spokane and Gonzaga Prep came up shy of the final four after both teams lost Tuesday at the State AA American Legion baseball tournament in Mt. Vernon and Burlington.

Preston King pitched four innings of scoreless one-hit relief to lead the Lynden Lightning to a 6-3 win over Mt. Spokane at Burlington-Edison High School. Triston Bradley had two hits and two runs for Mt. Spokane.

Travis Oord drove in three runs and Ryan Morrill allowed two hits and no earned runs in six innings to lead the Mt. Vernon Riverdogs to a 4-1 win over G-Prep at Sherman Anderson Field in Mt. Vernon. Nick Drynan scored G-Prep’s run in the third.

Lynden will meet Richland and Mt. Vernon will play Walla Walla on Wednesday.
