Liberty Lake police blotter: Vehicle prowls return to Liberty Lake

There were no vehicle prowls reported in Liberty Lake the week of July 11, but they are quickly rising again.

Police previously identified several people they believed were involved in a vehicle prowling ring in Liberty Lake, stealing and then pawning valuable items. Criminal charges have been filed against four people, but they have not been located or arrested.

A resident in the 1400 block of North Liberty Lake Road called police just before 9 p.m. July 20 to report that his car alarm went off and he discovered the door open when he went outside to check. Nothing was taken.

Several vehicle prowl reports were made to police on July 21. Some of the vehicles were unlocked while others had windows broken out. The reports came from the 1100 block of North Drury Court, the 24000 block of East Desmet Road, the 1100 block of North Malvern Road and the 23000 block of East Settler Road.

July 18: A police car was struck by another car pulling into traffic at Mission Avenue and Madson Street. No one was injured.

July 21: A resident in the 1200 block of North Ormond Road reported that someone tried to break into a garage, causing more than $500 in damage.

July 22: An officer noticed that a park bench at the skate park in the 700 block of North Molter Road was damaged. A man was arrested in the 200 block of North Henry Road after an officer spotted him riding his bike in the middle of the road shortly before 8 p.m. He was wanted on multiple warrants and reportedly had drugs and burglary tools in his possession.

July 25: A resident in the 1400 block of North Aladdin Court reported seeing someone outside a home with a flashlight just after 3 a.m. Officers could not locate anyone.

Arrests: Police made two arrests for driving with a suspended license.

Citations: Officers handed out four citations for expired vehicle registration, three for failure to show proof of liability insurance and two for speeding. Additional citations were given for allowing an unauthorized driver, driving without a license with identification, failure to install required ignition interlock device, improper passing, failure to yield while entering roadway from a driveway, texting while driving and unlawfully riding on the roadway.
