Shadow women celebrate; men clinch second place

The Spokane Shadow women’s team celebrated its NWPL championship by defeating South Sound 2-1 on Saturday at Spokane Falls Community College.

The Shadow, playing at home for the first time since clinching the league championship, got goals from Maia Angell in the 40th minute and Savannah Coiner in the 62nd minute. NWPL leading scorer Megan Lindsay assisted on both goals.

The win avenges the only loss of the season for the Shadow (11-1-0) and is the first loss for South Sound (6-1-5).

The Shadow men defeated South Sound 2-1, with Jared Davis and Sam Joy collecting the goals.

The Shadow (9-4-1) clinched no worse than a tie for second place, pending the outcome of Sunday’s games.
