Man who tried to escape from Spokane County Jail using a rope made of bedsheets sentenced

The cellmate of convicted killer James Henrikson was sentenced to 41 months in prison Friday for an escape attempt from the Spokane County Jail in August that involved a broken window and a rope made out of bedsheets.

Bud Ray Brown, 33, previously took sole credit for the escape attempt, saying he began chiseling away at the concrete around the window long before Henrikson became his cellmate. Passersby saw the rope dangling from the 5-inch wide window and alerted authorities.

The 41-month sentence is to be served after Brown completes a 180 month sentence for a federal firearms violation, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s office.
