Dealing The Milwaukee Bucks and coach Jason Kidd are close to reaching agreement on a three-year contract extension, three people with direct knowledge of the situation told the AP. Kidd is entering the last year of a three-year deal with Milwaukee. He is 74-90 over his first two seasons, including a 41-win season and playoff appearance in 2014-15.

Hired The St. Louis Blues have hired former Minnesota Wild coach Mike Yeo as the successor-in-waiting for head coach Ken Hitchcock, who has declared that next season will be his last before retiring. Blues GM Doug Armstrong announced that Yeo will be an associate coach for one year and take over the team for the 2017-18 season.

Died The Chicago Bears say former defensive lineman Bryan Robinson has died. He was 41. Robinson was found at a Milwaukee motel Saturday night. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office says Robinson, of Gurnee, Illinois, was pronounced dead at the Midpoint Motel about 10:15 p.m. An autopsy was being conducted.

Curley Johnson, who punted for the New York Jets in their Super Bowl victory in 1969, has died. He was 80. The team announced that Johnson passed away Sunday at his home in Granbury, Texas, a day after celebrating his 61st wedding anniversary with his wife Janet.

Ron Mason, who led Michigan State to a national title in hockey and won 924 games – No. 2 on the NCAA all-time list – has died. He was 76. Spartans assistant coach Tom Newton said Mason’s death on Sunday night was “sudden.”

Awarded Syracuse men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim has received the American Cancer Society’s Circle of Honor Award in recognition of his fundraising for cancer research.

Agreed Standout defensive tackle Fletcher Cox agreed to a six-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles that could earn him nine figures.

Retiring Longtime Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley is retiring. He will officially step down Oct. 1.
