Liberty Lake Police Blotter: Hitting car’s bumper attracts attention of police
A driver narrowly escaped getting a ticket for reckless driving in Liberty Lake after striking the bumper of the car in front of him.
A woman called police and reported being struck from behind by another vehicle near Appleway Avenue and Molter Road the afternoon of June 6. An officer spoke to the second driver, who reportedly admitted following too close but said he did it because he thought the first driver was going too slow, said Police Chief Brian Asmus.
The man was warned about his behavior behind the wheel and told he could have been charged with reckless driving.

June 6: A resident of the 22000 block of East Country Vista Drive called to report that a woman who didn’t live there was putting boxes in the dumpster. Officers tracked the woman down using her license plate and gave her a citation for third-degree theft. A woman reportedly stole $99 of merchandise from a business in the 1500 block of North Liberty Lake Road.
June 8: A vehicle reported stolen from Spokane Valley was recovered in the 1200 block of North Barker Road.
June 9: A woman was arrested near Appleway and Broadway avenues for domestic violence assault and reckless endangerment for an incident that occurred on a motorcycle that was traveling at high speed. A man reported meeting someone in the 21000 block of East Country Vista Drive to purchase speakers. He said that when he asked the seller if the speakers were stolen, the seller abruptly left.
June 10: A man in the 1800 block of North Pepper Lane said an acquaintance had stolen $800 from his wallet.
June 11: Employees in the 19000 block of East Cataldo Court reported a suspicious vehicle. It left before officers arrived.
Arrests: Police made two arrests for driving with a suspended license and one for domestic violence malicious mischief.
Citations: Officers handed out two citations for expired vehicle registration, two for failure to show proof of liability insurance, two for no splash aprons/fenders and two for speeding. Additional citations were given for failure to stop/yield at intersection and failure to signal.
