Man wounded in armed home invasion

Three men forced their way inside an apartment at Third Avenue and Haven Street early Wednesday afternoon and wounded one of the residents.

The apartment is located in large white house at the corner of the intersection. Police said one of the men was armed and shot a resident in the hand during the home invasion robbery.

The wound is not life-threatening, said Officer Josh Laiva. “He’s doing fine,” Laiva said.

One suspect is described as white man about 6 feet 2 inches tall, thin and bald. He was wearing a dark hat and a white tank top. The second male was white, wearing a red bandana around his neck and wearing a white tank top. There is no description for the third man. The trio was reportedly accompanied by a brown or tan pit bull.

The suspects ran away on foot but officers were not able to find them even after bringing in a police dog to track them. Police believe the robbery was a “targeted” crime, Laiva said.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
