BOISE, Idaho – An editor from the Kansas City Star has been named the new top editor for the Idaho Statesman.

The Boise newspaper reported Rhonda Prast, assistant managing editor for digital at the Kansas City Star, will begin her new job as Statesman editor and vice president on Aug. 1.

Idaho Statesman Publisher Debra Leithauser said Prast knows how to connect with readers and lauded her digital experience, leadership skills and journalistic integrity.

Prast said she plans to spend a few months learning about the Statesman and the community before initiating ideas on how to shape coverage. She said the paper’s top priority will be doing great journalism and growing the digital audience.
