Suspected drunk driver flees, causes crash

A driver who had been involved with a police pursuit reportedly crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Cincinnati and Indiana just after 2 a.m. Friday.

A Washington State Patrol trooper had been attempting to pull a Chevy Tahoe over, but broke off the brief pursuit before the crash. The trooper quickly realized that the driver was driving dangerously and was concerned about the safety of others, said Trooper Jeff Sevigney.

The Tahoe, driven by Miguel A. Reyes, 35, was going north on Cincinnati at a high rate of speed when he ran a stop sign and hit a car heading west on Indiana, the WSP said. Reyes and the second driver, 41-year-old Tracy E. Bounous, were both taken to Sacred Heart Medical center.

Reyes is facing charges of vehicular assault, attempting to elude a police officer, driving under the influence and resisting arrest.
