Coeur d’Alene teen dies in crash near Ritzville

A Coeur d’Alene teenager died in a single car crash on Interstate 90 a mile east of Ritzville Friday night.

A Toyota 4Runner being driven by 22-year-old Ivory J. Pellerin of Post Falls was going east just before 10 p.m. when Pellerin lost control while attempting to pass a semi, according to the Washington State Patrol. Pellerin left the road on the left, overcorrected to the right and the car rolled into the median.

The passenger, 17-year-old Joseph B. Best of Coeur d’Alene, was partially ejected during the crash and died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Pellerin, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to East Adams Rural Hospital. The crash is under investigation.
