Suspected burglar nabbed in traffic stop
Kootenai County Sheriff’s deputies recovered stolen property and arrested a man suspected of multiple burglaries after a traffic stop early Saturday morning.
A deputy pulled over a vehicle near Highway 41 and East Seltice Way in Post Falls around 12:20 a.m. Saturday. The driver, identified as 30-year-old Jay R. Bright, was arrested for not having a valid driver’s license, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
But when deputies began doing an inventory of Bright’s car, they found a few surprises - heroin, scales, drug paraphernalia and multiple items of stolen property, including a laptop taken from a home in Coeur d’Alene.
Deputies added charges for possession of heroin with intent to deliver, possession of stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bright is a suspect in several recent residential burglaries in Coeur d’Alene, the news release said. He’s been arrested in Kootenai County 14 times previously for crimes ranging from grand theft to drug possession.
