Candidacy a disaster
The candidacy of Donald Trump is a disaster in the making for the Republican Party. With his ego in the air and his head in the sand, Trump thinks he could win in New York and California. An ice cube stands a better chance in hell. Who in those states is going to vote for him or, for that matter, who is going to vote for him across the nation?
Not Hispanics, who oppose him two to one, according to polls. Not women, who also oppose him two to one. Certainly not Muslims. Not George H.W. Bush, George Bush or Jeb Bush. Hillary Clinton has the president, the vice president and other luminaries in her corner. Trump has nobody in his. Republican Party leaders are loathe to support him, and some openly oppose him.
One month ago Clinton and Trump were tied in national polls. Today Clinton has a 12-point lead. Unless Trump changes his ways, and he has said he will not, the Democrats could win back the Congress on Clinton’s coattails.
If this election turns into an Electoral College debacle, and it easily could, the Republican Party might not recapture the White House for another generation.
