Schanz, Nicholls fail to advance at swimming trials

Emma Schanz (Colville-UCLA) finished 62nd in the 100-meter backstroke at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in Omaha, Nebraska, on Monday with a time of 1 minute, 2.90 seconds.

She was 3.25 seconds off the pace of the winning time.

She swims Tuesday in the 200 individual medley; Thursday in the 200 breaststroke (her best event) and Friday in the 200 backstroke.

Sarah Nicholls (Central Valley) finished in 88th place Monday in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:12:08 which was 5.63 seconds off pace). She finished 88th out of 123 swimmers.

Daniel Roy (Gonzaga Prep) swims Wednesday in the 200-meter breast stroke.

Taylor McCoy (Pullman) swims Friday in the 200-meter backstroke.
