Need effective representative

The Washington 5th Congressional District representation has been made irrelevant by do-nothing representatives pocketing millions in salaries and benefits and have accomplished very, very little.

For the last 12 years, Cathy McMorris Rodger’s salary was $162,100-$174,000 a year plus benefits and she missed 5.1 percent of the votes in Congress (well above the median). She got exactly two bills she individually sponsored signed by the president. One was the naming of the Spokane International Airport tower.

The previous 10 years was do-nothing George Nethercutt, salary $136,700-$158,100 plus benefits and he missed 4.3 percent of the votes in Congress (also well above the median). He got three bills he individually sponsored signed by the president. One was naming the federal courthouse after Tom Foley.

Ironically, Foley’s salary started at $30,000 a year, but he managed to get 34 Bills sponsored by him signed by the president and none were for naming a building (govtrack.us for all stats).

We need to elect a full-time representative with an effective meaningful voice, instead of the status quo.
