Four corners: Gonzaga aims for WCC title

Coming up: Saturday vs. Portland, 9 p.m., Orleans Arena, Las Vegas

Outlook: The second-seeded Zags’ WCC tournament quarterfinal assignment is No. 7 Portland. It could be tourney-title-or-NCAA-bust for Gonzaga, which has some holes in its NCAA at-large resume. Gonzaga swept the Pilots in the regular season. All-WCC first-teamers Kyle Wiltjer and Domantas Sabonis combined for 60 points in the first meeting. Five Zags reached double figures in the rematch. Portland has dropped four of its last five. Point guard Alec Wintering, who averages 18.4 points and 5 assists, earned All-WCC honors and leads a guard-oriented offense that includes Bryce Pressley (14.6 ppg, 62 3-pointers) and D’Marques Tyson (10.3 ppg, 84 3-pointers).

Gonzaga leaders

Scoring: Kyle Wiltjer, 20.8

Rebounding: Domantas Sabonis, 11.9

Assists: Josh Perkins, 3.97
