Order stuffed bagels and doughnuts with a new app from Spokane’s Sweetbox Delivery.
The app – free for Android and Apple users – allows customers to place orders for baked goods from their mobile devices.
It’s been in the works for about six months, said Sweetbox owner and manager Clay Cerna, who hired Lucas Hutyler to develop the app. They met at Startup Weekend Spokane a couple of years ago.
“The app allows us to be more responsive to our customers’ needs,” Cerna said, noting most of his wholesale clients are coffee stands or cafes.
Started in November 2014, Sweetbox specializes in delivering sweet treats to customers’ doors in the greater Spokane area. Its new app includes product information, photographs and “order now” and “eat now” features.

Ballast Point beer dinner
Clover is teaming up with Ballast Point Brewing for a six-course beer dinner March 15.
Tickets are on sale now. Dinner costs $65 and runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Clover, 913 E. Sharp Ave.
Featured beers include the Grapefruit Sculpin IPA and Victory at Sea Porter. The San Diego brewing company, started in 1996, was purchased last year by Constellation Brands for $1 billion.
Courses include baked oysters with pancetta and bread crumbs, liver and hazelnut spread on rye bread, smoked duck confit and foie gras pots de creme with pine nut brittle.

Happy 111th birthday, Ivar Haglund
If he were still alive, Ivar Haglund, the founder of Ivar’s Seafood restaurants, would be turning 111 on March 15.
To celebrate, customers can buy one and get one for $1.11 on what would have been his big day. Plus, the first 111 guests at each location will receive a strawberry-guava cheesecake.
Haglund started the regional chain in 1938 with a fish-and-chips stand at his aquarium on the Seattle waterfront.
Today, there are 23 fast-casual seafood bars, three full-service restaurants and concessions at Safeco Field, CenturyLink Field and more.
The birthday deal is available all day March 15 at any Ivar’s seafood bar in Washington state, including the Ivar’s in the Spokane Valley Mall food court but excluding stadiums.

Tortilla Union
A new Southwest-style grill plans to open on the ground floor of River Park Square.
Tortilla Union is slated to open in summer in the space that formerly held The Loft women’s clothing store on Main Avenue next to Nordstrom.
It’s the latest restaurant from the owners of Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar. Twigs has nine locations in Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Utah. A 10th location is slated to open next year in Vancouver, Washington. Twigs is owned by Jeff Blackwell, and Trevor and Jayne Blackwell of QOL Restaurant Group.
