In brief: Digest: Westbrook’s triple-double lifts Thunder

NBA: Russell Westbrook had 25 points, a career-high 20 assists and 11 rebounds to help the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the visiting Los Angeles Clippers 120-108 on Wednesday night.

According to STATS, it was the first triple-double with at least 20 points and 20 assists since Rod Strickland did it for the Washington Wizards in 1998.

It was the 30th triple-double of Westbrook’s career and his 11th this season. The Thunder are unbeaten this season when Westbrook gets a triple-double.

Kevin Durant had 30 points and 12 rebounds, and Serge Ibaka added 15 points for Oklahoma City.

Jeff Green scored 23 points, J.J. Redick had 22 and Chris Paul added 12 points and 16 assists for the Clippers.

Walker leads: Kemba Walker scored 35 points, and the Charlotte Hornets held off the New Orleans Pelicans 122-113 in Charlotte, North Carolina, for their 11th win in the last 13 games. Walker shot 9 of 18 from the field and had five 3-pointers for his fourth-straight 30-point game.

Anthony Davis had 40 points and 13 rebounds, and Jure Holiday scored a season-high 38 points as the injury-plagued Pelicans fell to 7-24 on the road this season.

Bucks hold off Heat: Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 24 points and Khris Middleton made four free throws in the closing seconds to help the host Milwaukee Bucks hold off the Miami Heat 114-108.

Jabari Parker added 23 points, Middleton had 22, and Miles Plumlee scored a season-high 18 for the Bucks.

Butler to get second opinion: Bulls All-Star guard Jimmy Butler is getting a second opinion on his injured left knee. Coach Fred Hoiberg says Butler is scheduled to visit orthopedist Dr. James Andrews and will miss Thursday’s game at San Antonio.

Griffin in running for Olympics: Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin’s chance of participating in the Rio Olympics hasn’t been jeopardized by his injuries or his suspension for punching a team staff member.

NHL: Kevin Shattenkirk scored the decisive goal in the sixth round of the shootout to lift the St. Louis Blues to a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks in St. Louis for their fourth straight win.

Tinordi suspended: Arizona Coyotes defenseman Jarred Tinordi has been suspended for 20 games without pay for violating terms of the NHL’s performance-enhancing substances program.

League rules out discipline for Kane: The NHL ruled that an offseason rape allegation made against Patrick Kane was unfounded in determining that the Chicago Blackhawks star forward will not face any league disciplinary action.

In November, Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita ruled against pursuing charges against Kane by citing a lack of credible evidence.

Winter Classic set at Busch Stadium: Outdoor hockey is coming to St. Louis. The NHL said before the St. Louis Blues’ game against the Chicago Blackhawks that the teams will play in the Winter Classic at Busch Stadium on Monday, Jan. 2.

NHL fines Ruutu: The NHL has fined New Jersey Devils forward Tuomo Ruutu $5,000 for kicking the legs out from under Pittsburgh forward Matt Cullen. The fine is the maximum allowed under the collective bargaining agreement.

Duke rallies, moves to ACC quarterfinals

College Basketball: A bloodied Marshall Plumlee’s tiebreaking 3-point play with 74 seconds left helped 19th-ranked Duke overcome a second-half deficit against North Carolina State for the third time in three meetings, and the reigning NCAA champion edged the Wolfpack 92-89 at Washington in the ACC Tournament’s second round.

Duke faces defending ACC tournament champion Notre Dame in the quarterfinals.

San Francisco fires Walters: University of San Francisco men’s basketball coach Rex Walters has been fired after eight seasons.

Egbunu injured before SEC tourney: Florida could be without center John Egbunu in the Southeastern Conference Tournament. Egbunu tore a ligament in his right thumb during practice Tuesday, leaving his availability against Arkansas in doubt.

Formula One U.S. Grand Prix will race

Miscellany: The U.S. Grand Prix will run in 2016 after months of speculation that its financial struggles could scuttle Formula One’s only race in the United States. Circuit of the Americas President Bobby Epstein said race officials had paid Formula One its rights fee last week.

U.S. wins SheBelieves Cup: Alex Morgan and Samantha Mewis scored and the United States rallied to beat Germany 2-1 in Boca Raton, Florida, to win the SheBelieves Cup. The World Cup champion Americans were 3-0-0 in the four-team event. Germany (2-1-0) finished second.
