Hotel room fire quickly put out
A malfunctioning wall heating and air conditioning unit caused a small fire in a vacant room at the Ramada Spokane Valley on March 18.
Spokane Valley Fire Department crews were called to the hotel at 905 N. Sullivan Road just before 5:30 a.m. after a desk clerk noticed smoke coming from the room. The fire did not spread from the wall unit and caused mostly smoke damage to the room.
The hotel does not have a fire sprinkler system because it was not required at the time the hotel was built.
