CMR champions telehealth

I am a respiratory therapist, and I have just returned from Washington, D.C. I represented 2,600 respiratory therapists from Washington state. Two colleagues and I visited every congressional office to seek sponsorship for H.R. 2948, the Medicare Telehealth Parity Act.

This bill will positively impact respiratory therapists and the respiratory care profession and profoundly help Medicare pulmonary patients. The bill adds respiratory therapists to the Medicare statute as qualified telehealth providers. It also covers respiratory services via a teleheath delivery system and remote patient monitoring services for certain chronic conditions, including COPD.

I personally want to thank Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers. She met with us, listened to our information, and I am pleased to say she is now a co-sponsor of this very important legislation. We are very fortunate to have such a champion for health care representing us in Washington, D.C.
