Those runners who left the 40th Bloomsday without a finisher T-shirt have until the end of the week to contact race organizers.

Director Don Kardong apologized for the shortage of the event’s signature keepsake in a news release Monday afternoon, urging participants who left shirtless to email race staff by 5 p.m. Friday.

“We are working hard to resolve the situation and determine the cause of the shirt shortage at the finish line,” Kardong wrote.

Those wishing to receive a T-shirt should email their name, race number, postal address, phone number and shirt size to the address info@bloomsdayrun.org. Shirts will be shipped to affected participants directly, Kardong said.

A total of 46,566 participants registered for Bloomsday this year, according to the news release. For the fifth year in a row, the number of people registered for the annual race was fewer than the year before, after reaching more than 56,600 in 2011.

Race organizers opted for a new, softer fabric on this year’s finisher T-shirts, which are handed out after participants cross the finish line along Spokane Falls Boulevard.
