Vehicular assault charges pending in Sunday night crash

From staff reports

Vehicular assault charges are pending against a Spokane Valley man after he flipped his car west of Medical Lake on Sunday night.

Both the driver, Ian Almberg, 25, and his passenger, Kelsee Anderson, 20, also of Spokane Valley, were injured and taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. Both were wearing seat belts, a news release from the Washington State Patrol said. Almberg was still being evaluated Monday morning, a spokesperson for the hospital said. Anderson was in satisfactory condition.

Almberg was driving a 2005 Kia Spectra east on I-90 about five miles west of Medical Lake shortly before midnight. He was speeding as he approached exit 264, the release said. The car left the exit ramp, rolled and came to rest down an embankment.

It is not known whether drugs or alcohol were involved, the release said. The cause is under investigation.
