Arrest made in Moses Lake homicide

An arrest has been made in the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Thomas M. Hernandez in Moses Lake late Monday.

Jesse Ray James, 23, has been arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and evidence tampering. The investigation is ongoing and further charges are possible, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

A woman in the 8700 block of Neppel Road Northeast called police just after 11 p.m. Monday to report hearing a loud noise in her home. When she went to investigate she found the body of a man, later identified as Hernandez, on the floor in her living room. James is the woman’s son and also lives in the home.
