Get granny’s money: Oregon woman plots burglary to get bail money, police say
GRANTS PASS, Ore. – Police say a Grants Pass woman solicited people to burglarize her grandmother’s house as she tried to raise bail money to get out of jail, where she was being held on a manslaughter charge.
The Daily Courier reported that court documents say the 23-year-old woman was being held in the Josephine County Jail last month when she tried to get a fellow inmate to help with the burglary scheme. She is charged with conspiracy and solicitation to commit burglary.
She was being held in connection with an August rollover that killed 15-year-old Aryen Chambers. It also seriously injured the woman and three teenagers in the car with her.
Her bail is set at $780,000 for the manslaughter charge. She has been in jail since October 1.
