North Idaho Stand Down to provide services, assistance to veterans

From staff reports

Service organizations that provide medical and dental care, food assistance, clothing, housing, haircuts and bike repair will participate in the 23rd annual North Idaho Veterans Stand Down on Saturday.

The event will be held at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Employers who have immediate openings will also be taking applications at the event, a news release said.

The Stand Down serves as the kick-off to a St. Vincent de Paul program to help veterans and their families in Idaho’s five northern counties with services throughout the year. For information on the Stand Down or on veterans assistance, call Eric Swanbeck, veteran services coordinator at St. Vincent de Paul at (208) 664-3095, extension 314.
