College baseball: USC knocks Huskies out of first place
LOS ANGELES – Frankie Rios tied the game with a solo homer in the third inning and David Oppenheim followed with a two-run shot as USC edged Washington 4-3 on Friday to knock the Huskies out of first place in the Pac-12 Conference.
The Huskies (25-16, 11-8) led 1-0 after Jack Meggs’ RBI single in the top of the third.
UW pushed across a run in the ninth with a double and Trojans infield error, but its runner was stranded at first base.
Utah, at 11-7, holds a narrow lead in the conference race. The Trojans are 21-22, 10-9.
