Firefighters to burn donated home in training exercise

A northside street will be shut down Saturday while Spokane County Fire District 9 conducts a training burn at a home at 9010 N. Wall Street.

The district and other local fire agencies have been using the home for training for four months. Saturday’s training will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and at the end of the day the home will be burned down.

Stevens Street will be closed at Maxine Avenue to give firefighters access to a fire hydrant. Spectators are allowed on the southeast corner of the property just south of the intersection of Stevens and Maxine. People may bring lawn chairs.

Once the home has been burned down firefighters will stay on scene overnight to monitor the remains of the building.
