3 dead, 4 injured in separate stabbing attacks at mall and home

Associated Press

TAUNTON, Mass. – Three people were killed and two others injured Tuesday in separate attacks at a shopping mall and a home in Massachusetts, and the suspect was one of the dead, authorities said.

The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday that 28-year-old Arthur Darosa crashed a car outside a home, walked inside and stabbed an 80-year-old woman and another woman. The 80-year-old was taken to a hospital, where she later died. The other woman is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Authorities said Darosa then drove to the Silver City Galleria mall and crashed a car through the front of a Macy’s store. They said he assaulted multiple people inside the store before walking to a restaurant and stabbing four people, including a 56-year-old man who later died.

Investigators said an off-duty sheriff’s deputy fatally shot Darosa.

Taunton is about 40 miles south of Boston.

Silver City Galleria is a regional mall offering 130 specialty stores, sit-down restaurants and a movie theater.
