Newsmakers: QB Carson Wentz signs four-year contract with the Eagles

Signed Quarterback Carson Wentz signed a four-year contract with the Eagles one day before rookie camp. Wentz led North Dakota State to consecutive FCS national championships. Minnesota Vikings first-round draft pick wide receiver Laquon Treadwell has signed his rookie contract.

Bitten North Carolina State baseball coach Elliott Avent didn’t travel for a series at Louisville after being bit by a venomous snake. Athletics spokesman Fred Demarest told The AP that a copperhead bit Avent on the right ankle outside his home as he pulled his dog away from the snake, which also bit the dog.

Released The Atlanta Dream have released the WNBA’s oldest player, 41-year-old DeLisha Milton-Jones. The three-time All-Star and two-time Olympic gold medalist was among four players cut as the team finalized its regular-season roster.

Dismissed Alabama coach Nick Saban has dismissed highly rated junior college transfer Charles Baldwin from the team. Saban announced the decision in a one-sentence statement, citing a violation of unspecified team rules.

Announced Forward Lew Evans will play for Tennessee as a graduate transfer once he finishes up at Utah State. The 6-foot-9 forward is set to graduate this summer.
