MILLER, Francis Dale

Dale Miller, 78, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016 in Spokane, WA.

He was born on December 6, 1937 to Lloyd and Miriam Miller.

Dale grew up in Jasonville, Indiana and graduated from Coalmont High School in 1955.

After high school he attended Purdue University where he earned a B.A in Education.

Dale joined the Air Force in 1961 and served for 21 years, 14 of which as a pilot of KC-135.

He is a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars among numerous other awards.

Dale also earned a degree in Airplane mechanics at Spokane Community College.

After retiring from the Air Force, Dale worked for Mead School District as a bus driver where he worked for 17 years.

Dale married Bonnie in 1982 in Spokane, WA.

They were happily married for 33 years.

Dale was a lifetime member of VFW, and Eagles, Power Squadron, and attended South Hill Bible Church.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Miriam Miller, brothers Jim, Don, and Joe Miller.

Dale is survived by his wife Bonnie; his step-children Dave (Barbara), Don, and Jean Witkoe, all of Spokane, and Ken (Grace) Witkoe of Lakewood; his grandchildren Jesse, Amanda, Rebekah, Tamara, Alicia, CJD, Kevin, Steven, and Rachel; his great-grandchildren Katie, Kingston, Maddie, Reuben, and another little girl on the way; and numerous extended family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held at South Hill Bible Church, 958 E. 29th, Spokane, WA on Monday, May 16th at 10:00 AM.
