Andretti drivers sweep top 4 spots at 1st Indy 500 practice

INDIANAPOLIS – Andretti Autosport drivers swept the top four spots during Monday’s practice session for the Indianapolis 500, led by Marco Andretti.

The 29-year-old Andretti posted the fastest lap on the 2.5-mile oval, 228.978 mph, on a day Honda easily outdueled its rival Chevrolet.

Carlos Munoz was second fastest at 228.945 mph, followed by 2014 Indy winner Ryan Hunter-Reay at 228.033 and rookie Alexander Rossi at 226.865. The only Andretti driver to miss the top five was Townsend Bell, who was sixth at 226.724.

The fastest Chevy driver was Scott Dixon, who posted a lap of 226.724 mph for fifth place. Dixon drives for Target Chip Ganassi.

Practice is scheduled to resume Tuesday afternoon.
