Eastern deputy A.D. Halpin to become A.D. at Winthrop University

Eastern Washington deputy athletic director Ken Halpin has been named athletic director at Winthrop University, the South Carolina school announced Monday.

Halpin was one of four finalists to replace Tom Hickman, who is retiring this summer after 20 years. Halpin will begin work on July 11, administering all aspects of Winthrop’s NCAA Division I athletics program.

Over the past five years at Eastern Washington, Halpin has served in multiple roles, most recently as deputy athletic director.

Halpin obtained a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Washington State University in 2015.

Halpin lives in Cheney with his wife, Amber, and two sons, Kenny and Jonathan.
