Spokane Valley Fire Roundup: Crews find extinguished campfire, departing juveniles

Firefighters were recently called to a wooded area behind an apartment complex in the 2400 block of North Pines Road where campfires lit by transients and juveniles are frequently reported, some of which turn into brush fires.

When crews arrived late on May 14 the fire was already out, and they spotted “five young people in the distance telling us they were sorry,” said Spokane Valley Fire Department spokeswoman Melanie Rose.

The five did not stick around for further conversation. Firefighters made sure the fire was completely out before they left the area, Rose said.
