Liberty Lake Police Blotter: Vehicle vandalism on the rise

Vehicle vandalism appears to be on the rise in Liberty Lake, with three cases reported to police in the span of a week.

The first call came in on May 9 when a man reported $250 in damage to his car while it was parked at his work in the 1700 block of North Madsen Street.

Two calls came in on May 11. One caller reported that her car’s fuse box had been taken apart in the 21000 block of East Country Vista Drive. Another reported $500 in damage to his vehicle in the 19000 block of East Maxwell Avenue.

May 9: Fraud was reported by a business in the 1300 block of North Liberty Lake Road. The caller reported that an employee used a business credit card to obtain $1,000 in cash from an ATM without authorization. Theft charges have been requested against the employee.

May 12: Someone called in a suspicious vehicle in the 2300 block of North Molter Road just after 2 a.m. An officer found a woman sleeping inside. She told the officer she had been drinking and didn’t want to drive home.

May 13: A man reported his wallet had been stolen in the 24000 block of East Valleyway Avenue. Kootenai County Sheriff’s Deputies later arrested a man who was in possession of the stolen wallet.

May 15: About $1,600 worth of tools were reported stolen from a trailer in the 1600 block of North Caufield Court.

Arrests: Police made two arrests for driving with a suspended license and one for operating a vehicle without a required ignition interlock device.

Citations: Officers handed out two citations for expired vehicle registration and two for failure to show proof of liability insurance. They also gave out citations for failure to display registration (snowmobile), driving without a license, second-degree negligent driving and driving with wheels off roadway.
