Obituary: Hartman, Louise Floy (Harrington)

Age 77

HARTMAN,
Louise Floy
(Harrington)

Louise, 77, passed away on May 15, 2016 with family by her side.
Louise F. Hartman was born on June 13, 1938 to Ralph and Floy Harrington in Grand Forks, B.C.

(as it was the closest hospital to her family’s home in Curlew, WA).

During her early years Louise’s family moved to Spangle, WA, where she attended Spangle Elementary School and graduated from Spangle High School.

Following high school, she attended Cosmetology School.
While on an outing with a group of friends at a drive-in movie theatre, Louise met her future husband, Al, in 1958.

They married in 1959 at the Spangle Community Church, and soon headed off to Yale, Michigan, Al’s hometown.

After six years and three babies were born, the couple headed back to Washington State where their fourth child was born in Spokane.
Louise spent many hours volunteering at the local elementary school and teaching Sunday School.

She subsequently dedicated the rest of her life to raising her children, helping with her grandchildren while her children worked, fretting after her husband, and enjoying her beautiful collections.
Louise’s children and grandchildren were her world.

She put all of her love and energy into being a mom and grandma.

She loved doting on the grandchildren, and introduced them to Winnie the Pooh and so much more.

Treating them to lunch at Pizza Hut and topping it off with M & Ms became a tradition over the many years of time spent with grandchildren.
Louise also loved all things beautiful, including her flower gardens.

She was rightfully proud of her incredible peonies, bleeding hearts, lilacs, and roses.
She enjoyed collecting beautiful knick knacks, such as carrousel horses, ceramic animals, and decorative plates.
The embroidered pillow cases and table cloths she hand stitched became a traditional wedding gift for her children.
In recent years her health faded, making it difficult to enjoy life.

Her body, mind, and soul are now at rest.
Louise is survived by her husband of 56 years, Al Hartman; her children Michelle (Mike) Tripp, Mitch (Marta) Hartman, Julie (Art) Thayer, and Jill (Tony) Green; her grandchildren Monica Tripp, Max (Amanda) Tripp, Alex, Nick, Jessica, and Mark Hartman, Brandon and Ryan Thayer, Riley and Cooper Green; her great-grandson Lars Hartman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Spangle Community Church, Spangle, Washington 305 2nd Street, Spangle, WA 99031.
Hennessey Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
