Obituary: Brownlee, Sylva (Parmley)

Age 97

BROWNLEE, Sylva (Parmley)
(Age 97)

Our sweet mother, Granny, sister, aunt, and friend left for heaven April 2, 2016.

She was born the fifth of ten children to Arthur and Minnie Parmley in Spokane on December 16, 1918.

In 1935 she married Marion (Barney) Brownlee.

Together they farmed at Five Mile Prairie and Rathdrum, Idaho and raised five children.

Sylva keenly observed life and was passionate about many things - people, reading, writing, cooking, doing the best she could with what she had.

She loved and lived Jesus and was a deep thinker and studied the Bible and other works on a level for beyond her education.

She tackled injustice at every level with great civility.

She loved cooking at Bible camps at Newman Lake, Riverview and Cocolalla for her summer vacations.

She was the author of the original Lakeland School District newsletter.

Sylva is survived by two of her sisters, Betty Boyle and Eola Schultz; two sons, Tom (Lauri) Brownlee and Mike (Lori) Brownlee; two daughters, JoAnn Allen and Claudia Schorzman; a son-in-law, Jim Firzlaff; sixteen grandchildren with seven more added by marriage; twenty-six great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; numerous dear nieces and nephews; and the much appreciated and beloved staff at Brookdale Park Place Assisted Living.

A service thanking God for her life will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 4305 N. DIVISION, SPOKANE, WA.
