(Age 63)

Died unexpectedly at home on May 14th, 2016.

Born in Spokane WA, Patty was a graduate of Joel E. Ferris class of ‘71 and EWU class of ‘76.
Patty lived life to the fullest, and charged through it at full speed, the only speed she had.

There was never a hurdle too large for her to conquer.

She loved learning new things and had an insatiable drive to create, painting and inventing new things constantly.

Her face book profile aptly defines her as a “Freelance Entrepreneurista!”

She also loved gardening and her colorful garden became a beautiful work of art.

She loved music and art and her zest for life and adventure was unmatched.

Patty was outgoing and enthusiastic about everything and everyone; the kind of person that made new friendships easily.

Patty’s charisma and creativity will be missed by all who knew her.
Wherever she lived, Patty became an important part of the community.

She was an active member of AA and an inspirational speaker for 13 years, helping many on their journeys to recovery.

After moving to Newport, Oregon, Patty became involved in many new activities, including Meals on Wheels, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Newport Symphony Orchestra.
Preceded in death by parents John and Marie McGough, and husbands Derrick McGavic, and Bryan Malakoff.
Patty is survived by her beloved children Maxwell Malakoff, and Kelsey Malakoff, of Eugene OR, and Lynn Gill of El Paso, Texas; as well as grandchildren Rex Malakoff, Brittany Lynne Gill, and Bryson David Gill; great-grandchildren Quincy Cortez Quinn and Mia Rae Lynne Quinn.

Also survived by siblings Margaret Donat of Fairbanks, AK, Anne Coulson of Hermosa Beach, CA, John M. McGough of Haley, ID, Tim McGough of Scottsdale, AZ, and Eleanor McGough of Minneapolis, MN.

Patty will be missed by her loyal and constant side-kick, Mia the tiny terrier who she referred to as “her bestest girl.


A memorial celebration of Patty’s life will be held on Thursday, May 26th at 11a.m.

at the Newport Performing Arts Center, 777 W. Olive Street, Newport, OR 97365.

The family requests no black clothing, wear something colorful and fun like Patty.
In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Newport Symphony Orchestra or Newport Meals on Wheels.
