Area prep golfers at state have work cut out

Three Greater Spokane League boys advanced to Wednesday’s State 4A final round at Meadow Springs in Richland. Gonzaga Prep’s Patrick Parelius is tied for 17th after opening with a 76. Central Valley’s Riley Hadley and Isaac Emerson carded 80s (tied for 33rd).

Eastlake’s Tommy McCoy (70) leads by one shot.

In the girls tournament at Sun Willows in Pasco, Gonzaga Prep’s Jordan Jaeger (77, t-13), Kelly Hooper (78, t-18) and Hannah Rieckers (82, t-33) advanced to the final round. University’s Courtney Jackson is tied for 24th after an 80. Lewis and Clark’s Skylar Kersten shot an 81 (t-27).

Pasco’s Jalayne Martinez shot a 69 and holds a three-stroke lead.

Cheney’s Cheyenne Marchand opened with an 80 at Columbia Point in Richland. She’s three shots behind leader Kenedee Peters of Ephrata.

Liberty’s Luke Hall (73) has a one-shot lead in the boys’ tournament at Horn Rapids in Richland.

2B/1B

Davenport’s Kaysa Panke built a seven-shot lead by firing a 77 at MeadowWood. Northwest Christian’s Hannah Allen and Wilbur-Creston’s Alicia Johnson are tied for third, eight shots behind.

Panke was fourth last year and Johnson took second.

Palmer Guhlke of Davenport shot a 74 and trails boys’ leader Cayden Field of Tonasket by three strokes. Guhlke placed fourth last year.
