Obama flushes Constitution
He’s done it again. We hired our president to be commander-in-chief of our armed forces and to faithfully execute the laws passed by Congress. As he has done for almost eight years, again he has exceeded his authority; this time he has mandated to the public schools across the country how their bathrooms should be used, threatening to withhold funding to any that do not comply.
I’ve just reread the Constitution, Article II, to be sure I hadn’t previously missed something that gave him this authority. I still cannot see any presidential authority covering bathrooms, or public schools either. As I recall, public school issues used to be reserved to the states. Fortunately, some states are resisting this latest mandate.
The world is close to chaos, which the president seems to dismiss; our country is beset with conflicts, which he often dismisses. Yet he assumes authority outside his job description if it fits his personal agenda. He wasn’t hired to choose his own agenda. He was hired to govern according to the U.S. Constitution, which I believe he vowed to uphold.
What other extra-presidential actions does he plan for the next eight months?
