Liberty Lake Police Blotter: Vehicle prowls still an issue

Vehicle prowls continue to be reported in Liberty Lake, but the numbers are down for the most recent week.

The most recent prowls were reported May 17 in the 19000 block of East Knox Avenue. One driver reported that a $500 pair of prescription sunglasses was missing and the other reported the theft of more than $700 worth of items from the car.

With everyone on the alert for anything out of the ordinary, a suspicious person was reported in the area of Mitchell Court and Valleyway Avenue on May 20. An officer contacted the man, who turned out to live down the street and was just walking home.

Other incidents from May 16-23

May 16: A person in the 1400 block of North Malvern Road called police just before noon to report seeing a suspicious vehicle. A man reportedly got out of the car, ran up to a neighbor’s porch and grabbed a package. An officer could not locate the car, but the empty package was found nearby. The package reportedly contained a Spider Man book and other items.

May 19: Trespassing children were reported in the 1700 block of South Liberty Lake Road. The youths told police they would clean up after themselves and leave.

May 20: A resident in the 23000 block of East Valleyway Avenue reported a motor valued at $1,500 stolen off his boat.

May 23: A woman reported a man was following her in the 1300 block of North Liberty Lake Road. An officer was nearby and responded in less than a minute but could not locate the man. An RV valued at $50,000 was reported stolen from the 19000 block of East Cataldo Avenue. Employee reported the RV was in for service and the keys were left inside.

Arrests: Police made three arrests on various domestic violence related charges, one for driving under the influence and two for driving with a suspended license.

Citations: Officers handed out two citations for failure to show proof of liability insurance and two for malicious mischief. Additional citations were given for illegal use of studded tires, following too close and speeding.
