Civil War reignites - again - at Deep Creek

The Battle of Deep Creek will bring in hundreds of soldiers and other participants, plus thousands of spectators, for the annual Civil War battle re-enactment this weekend on the West Plains.

Camp opens at 9 a.m. Saturday through Monday, with battles at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 1 p.m. Monday. Various presentations on the people and history of the Civil War are scheduled throughout the day. New this year are evening events: Lantern walks on Saturday and Sunday at 8 p.m. and a night battle on Sunday. On Monday, there will be a Memorial Day service after the battle.

The re-enactment is at Deep Creek Farms, 811 N. Deep Creek Road in Medical Lake. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for youths 13-17, free for children 12 and younger, $25 per family.
