North Idaho man wanted on kidnapping charge captured
BLANCHARD, Idaho – A northern Idaho man authorities say opened fire on a sheriff’s deputy during a vehicle pursuit and then escaped on foot has been captured.
The Bonner County Daily Bee reports that a 1st District Court judge on Thursday ordered 27-year-old Patrick Allen Geaudreau held on $220,000 bail.
Geaudreau was taken into custody on Wednesday during a traffic stop.
Police initially sought Geaudreau on a warrant for aggravated battery, first-degree kidnapping and attempted strangulation.
Police say he was a passenger in a vehicle that on May 9 fled a traffic stop in Idaho and entered Washington state. Authorities say Geaudreau fired at a pursuing Bonner County Sheriff’s deputy, who wasn’t injured.
Authorities in Washington are investigating the reported shooting, and charges have not been filed.
