College softball: Alabama ends Washington’s season at Super Regional

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Reagan Dykes’ three-run homer highlighted a four-run third inning Saturday as Alabama ended Washington’s season with a 5-2 victory in NCAA Super Regional softball play at Rhoads Stadium.

The Crimson Tide (51-12) won the first two games of the best-of-3 series to advance to the Women’s College World Series, which begins Thursday in Oklahoma City.

The Huskies (39-15) trimmed the deficit to 4-2 in the bottom of the third as Ali Aguilar singled home Julia DePonte and scored on Taylor Van Zee’s sacrifice fly.

But reliever Alexis Osorio (19-6) held the Huskies to three hits and no runs over the final 4 2/3 innings, striking out eight.
