EWU should use Albi Stadium

Isn’t most of Eastern Washington University’s fan base located in the greater Spokane area? Aren’t a large percentage of Eastern students from the Spokane area? Don’t a lot of Eastern students commute from Spokane daily? Don’t more Eastern alumni live in Spokane?

If most of this is true, then why wouldn’t it make sense for Eastern to propose a partnership with the City of Spokane, the Mead School District and the Spokane School District, and spend far less money updating Albi Stadium and bring first-class college football back to Spokane?

It seems having 18,000 seats, with easy access to parking and plenty of room for tailgaters, is far better than going through a long and painful fund-raising campaign only to spend millions and still having great football an inconvenient 20 miles away.

Huskies golf team deserved more

The Washington women’s golf team just won the national championship. No picture/coverage in your paper.

The Husky women have won championships now in golf, volleyball and softball in the last few years. The basketball team went to the Final Four this year. Where is your coverage and celebration?

National success of all Washington schools should be honored. You could do a great article about the success of Title IX at UW.

National championships deserve banner headlines, not a small paragraph at the bottom of Page 2. Young women of the Spokane area could be encouraged and inspired by the success of the UW program.
