In Brief: Irving scores 32, Cavs stay unbeaten

NBA: Kyrie Irving scored a season-high 32 points and the reigning NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers remained undefeated, beating the Houston Rockets 128-120 on Tuesday night.

Kevin Love scored 24 points while LeBron James added 19 points and 13 rebounds as Cleveland placed six players in double figures. The Cavaliers are 4-0 for the first time in 16 years.

James Harden scored a season-high 41 points and had 15 assists for Houston.

Ryan Anderson’s 3-pointer cut Cleveland’s lead to 114-112 with 2:18 to play, but 3-pointers by James and J.R. Smith and another 3 by Irving with 34 seconds left pushed the margin to 125-116.

Carter-Williams to be out 4-6 weeks: The Chicago Bulls expect guard Michael Carter-Williams to miss 4-6 weeks because of a bruised left knee and sprained left wrist. Carter-Williams took a hard fall contesting a layup in the second quarter of Monday’s win at Brooklyn. Acquired in a trade with Milwaukee on Oct. 17, he is averaging 4.0 points.

Thunder send Ilyasova to 76ers for Grant: The Oklahoma City Thunder have traded Ersan Ilyasova to the Philadelphia 76ers for Jerami Grant. The 76ers also will get a protected draft pick while the Thunder will get a trade exception, reducing the team’s salary cap.

Grant was a second-round pick in 2014. The 6-foot-8 small forward averaged 9.7 points and 4.7 rebounds last season. The 6-foot-10 Ilyasova has career averages of 10.6 points and 6.0 rebounds. He’s a career 36.9 percent 3-point shooter.

Jazz Alec Burks out indefinitely: The Utah Jazz say forward Alec Burks underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle Tuesday and is out indefinitely. Burks has not played this season as he rehabbed from arthroscopic surgery on the same ankle and left knee in June. Injuries have plagued Burks, who missed 50 games in 2015-16 and 55 games the previous season.

Hawks, city planning Philips Arena renovation: The Atlanta Hawks are planning a $192.5 million renovation of Philips Arena, with the city providing the bulk of the funding. As part of the deal announced Tuesday, the Hawks agreed to an 18-year lease extension to remain at the city-owned arena through 2046. The city will contribute $142.5 million toward the project.

Jones wins it in OT; Jackets beat Stars 3-2

NHL: Sam Gagner tied it with 16 seconds left in the third period and Seth Jones scored 46 seconds into overtime, lifting the Columbus Blue Jackets over the visiting Dallas Stars 3-2 on Tuesday night.

Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 36 shots for Columbus, and Nick Foligno also scored.

Tyler Seguin scored his team-leading fifth goal for Dallas early in the third for a 2-1 lead. Columbus pulled Bobrovsky for an extra skater on a power play in the final minute, leading to Gagner’s slap shot from atop the left circle that beat goalie Antti Niemi.

Kucherov, Bishop lead Lightning: Nikita Kucherov had two goals and two assists, Ben Bishop made 26 saves, and visiting Tampa Bay beat the Islanders 6-1 Tuesday night. Steven Stamkos, Brian Boyle, J.T. Brown, and Valtteri Filppula also scored, and Victor Hedman and Slater Koekkoek each had two assists to help the Lightning snap a three-game skid and finish a 3-3-0 road trip.

Wild center Zac Dalpe out 4 to 6 weeks: Minnesota Wild center Zac Dalpe will miss the next four to six weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery to repair a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee. Dalpe was hurt Saturday in Minnesota’s 4-0 win over Dallas. Dalpe, who turned 27 on Tuesday, has one goal and two assists in nine games.

Western Michigan routs Ball St.

College Football: Corey Davis caught 12 passes for a conference-record 272 yards with three touchdowns Tuesday night to help No. 17 Western Michigan rout host Ball State 52-20.

The Broncos (9-0, 5-0 Mid-American Conference, No. 23 CFP) won their 11th straight game, the longest streak in school history. The previous record of 10 had stood since 1941. Broncos quarterback Zach Terrell went 23 of 34 for 367 yards, with Davis getting open all night and made the big plays look routine.

The Cardinals (4-5, 1-4) played without injured starting quarterback Riley Neal. His replacement, Jack Milas, went 20 of 38 for 197 yards with one touchdown.

Ex-Baylor official says told to not put anything in writing: The former Title IX coordinator at Baylor University says that a top school official told her to never put anything in writing after she sent him a 16-page memo detailing her concerns that her authority and support were still being compromised even as the university had indicated it was trying to make changes in the wake of a series of sexual assault claims.

Patty Crawford told “60 Minutes Sports on Showtime” that Reagan Ramsower, the university’s senior vice president for operations and chief financial officer, yelled at her in July after she wrote the memo.

“He was not happy. And – I was shocked. I was yelled at. I was told, `Don’t ever put anything in writing to me again. You talk to me in person. You call me on the phone. But don’t put anything in writing,“’ she said.

Rousey: UFC 207 to be among her last fights

Miscellany: Ronda Rousey says her bantamweight title shot against Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 will be one of her final mixed martial arts bouts. Rousey spoke about her fight Tuesday during an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show. The 29-year-old Olympic judo medalist hasn’t fought since November 2015. When asked how much longer she will continue fighting, Rousey replied: “Not that long.”

Man City beats Barcelona 3-1: Ilkay Gundogan scored either side of Kevin De Bruyne’s curling free kick to help Manchester City come from behind to beat Barcelona 3-1 in the Champions League, as Pep Guardiola got the better of his old club on Tuesday. Lionel Messi’s 90th goal in Europe’s top club competition gave Barcelona a 21st-minute lead, but City was rampant after Gundogan’s equalizer in the 39th.

Raonic reaches Paris Masters 3rd round: Fourth-seeded Milos Raonic hit 17 aces as he beat Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta 7-6 (5), 6-4 Tuesday to reach the third round of the Paris Masters. The big-serving Canadian has been hampered by a right ankle injury that forced him to withdraw ahead of his China Open semifinal three weeks ago.
