G-Prep tied with Chiawana at 7th in final AP football rankings

No area prep football team is ranked No. 1 in the final Associated Press polls released Wednesday.

Gonzaga Prep (7-2) finished tied with Chiawana (8-1) at seventh in 4A. The teams meet Friday in a play-in game at Gonzaga Prep.

Camas (9-0) finished atop the poll. Richland (9-0) slipped to third. The Bombers take on unranked Central Valley (7-2) on Friday at Lampson Stadium in Kennewick.

O’Dea (9-0), which supplanted two-time state champion Eastside Catholic (8-1) two weeks ago atop the 3A rankings, remained at No. 1 in the final poll. Mt. Spokane visits second-ranked Eastside Catholic on Saturday in a play-in game.

Archbishop Murphy (9-0) is ranked No. 1 in 2A. Pullman (7-2) and West Valley (8-1), which are idle until play-in games Tuesday, remained unranked.

There was no change in 1A where Royal (9-0) has been No. 1 all season.

In 2B, tri-league champs Asotin (8-1), Liberty (8-1) and Northwest Christian (8-1) finished ranked third, fourth and fifth respectively. Napavine (9-0) is No. 1.

With its win over Almira/Coulee-Hartline (8-1), Odessa-Harrington (8-0) climbed to second in 1B behind No. 1 Lummi (8-0). ACH slipped to fifth.
